Can You Take Amoxicillin While Taking Solodyn?

Solodyn® (minocycline hydrochloride) is prescribed for cases of moderate-to-severe acne. It comes in tablet form and is taken just once a day. Solodyn is a tetracycline antibiotic and does have the potential to interact with several other medications.

For example, you should not take amoxicillin while taking Solodyn. Both are antibiotics, and taking them together could decrease the effectiveness of amoxicillin. Thus, the manufacturer recommends that Solodyn not be taken with this medication.

Because Solodyn can interact with many different medicines, not just amoxicillin, you should tell your healthcare provider about any other drugs you are taking before beginning treatment. This includes nonprescription products and supplements.

(Click Solodyn Drug Interactions for a detailed list of other products that should not be taken with Solodyn, as well as the problems that can occur.)
