Minocin Drug Interactions

Antacids, birth control pills, and ergot medications are among the drugs that may interfere with Minocin. These types of interactions could decrease the effectiveness of the medications or increase your risk for side effects. To reduce your risk of developing potentially negative drug interactions with Minocin, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medicines you are taking.

An Overview of Drug Interactions With Minocin

Minocin® (minocycline hydrochloride) may potentially interact with a number of other medicines. These medications that may lead to drug interactions with Minocin can include, but are not limited to:
  • Aluminum, calcium, iron, or magnesium products (such as many antacids, iron supplements, calcium supplements, laxatives, and multivitamins)
  • Bile-acid sequestrants, including:




    • Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
    • Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
    • Ergonovine
    • Ergotamine (Bellamine S, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
    • Methylergonovine (Methergine®)
    • Pergolide (Permax®)
