Acne Home > More Information on Differin

Dosing Information

This medication comes in two different strengths and three different formulations (cream, gel, or lotion). You and your healthcare provider will choose the best product for you, depending on the severity of your acne, your skin type, and personal preferences. As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
(Click Differin Dosage for more information.)

Side Effects of Differin

Just like any medicine, Differin may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
The most common side effects of this medication include:
  • Dry skin
  • A burning or stinging sensation
  • Scaling
  • Redness.
(Click Differin Side Effects to learn more, including potentially serious side effects that you should report immediately to your healthcare provider.)

Drug Interactions

In general, Differin is unlikely to interact with other medications (see Differin Drug Interactions).
