Epiduo for Acne

Epiduo® (adapalene/benzoyl peroxide) is a medicine used to treat and prevent acne breakouts in adults and adolescents. This medication is only available with a prescription and is approved for use in children as young as nine years old. It is typically used no more than once daily.
As a treatment for acne, Epiduo contains two medications:
The adapalene component is believed to work by suppressing inflammation and slowing down the rapid growth of skin cells. Benzoyl peroxide is thought to kill acne-causing bacteria, and to help soften and remove the outer layer of the skin.
Before using this medication, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and nonprescription medicines), as well as any other medical conditions you may have. Possible side effects include skin reactions, such as dryness, redness, and temporary stinging and burning.
