Drug Combinations With Dynacin to Avoid

Dynacin Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Dynacin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Aluminum, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, or Zinc Products
Taking Dynacin with products that contain aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, or zinc, including antacids and supplements, may decrease the amount of Dynacin absorbed into the body, possibly decreasing its effectiveness. To help minimize this potential interaction, take Dynacin at least two hours before or six hours after these products.

Aspirin
Taking Dynacin with aspirin may decrease the amount of Dynacin absorbed into the body, decreasing its effectiveness. This interaction is mostly a concern with buffered aspirin products. Take Dynacin two hours before or six hours after taking buffered aspirin to avoid this interaction.

Atazanavir
Dynacin may decrease the levels of atazanavir in your body, potentially decreasing its effectiveness. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction before taking these drugs together.

Bile Acid Sequestrants
Bile acid sequestrants may bind to Dynacin in the digestive tract, decreasing the amount absorbed into the body. To help minimize this interaction, separate your doses of Dynacin and a bile acid sequestrant by at least two hours.

Birth Control Pills
Dynacin may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills, which could increase your risk for breakthrough bleeding or unintentional pregnancy. The manufacturer of Dynacin recommends that women use a second form of birth control when taking this drug.

Bismuth Subsalicylate
Bismuth subsalicylate may decrease the absorption of Dynacin into the body, decreasing its effectiveness. Take Dynacin at least two hours before or six hours after taking bismuth subsalicylate to avoid this interaction.
