Duac and Acne

Duac® (clindamycin/benzoyl peroxide) is a medicine used to treat acne in adults and adolescents. This medication is only available with a prescription and is approved for use in children as young as 12 years old. It is typically used no more than once daily.

For treating mild-to-moderately severe acne, Duac works by killing acne-causing bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes). Duac is one of many prescription acne medications currently available. It is a topical acne treatment, which means it is applied to the skin. It is specifically designed to treat mild-to-moderately severe inflammatory acne.

Like many acne medications, Duac can make the skin appear worse before it gets better. If your acne does not improve within six to eight weeks, talk to your healthcare provider about whether Duac is right for you.
