Doryx 75 mg Tablets

Doryx® (doxycycline hyclate delayed release) is an antibiotic approved for treating and/or preventing various types of infections. It comes in tablet form and is available by prescription only.

The recommended Doryx dosage for most types of bacterial infections in adults is 100 mg to 200 mg per day for 7 to 14 days. The standard recommended dose for preventing malaria in adults is 100 mg daily. For people who have been exposed to anthrax or who have a diagnosed active anthrax infection, the recommended Doryx dose is 100 mg, taken twice a day for 60 days.

In children ages eight or older, Doryx dosing is determined by the child's weight, usually about 1 to 2 mg per pound of body weight per day. The length of treatment will depend on the particular condition being treated. Children weighing more than 100 pounds should receive the standard adult dosage. Because this antibiotic is available in limited strengths (150 mg tablets, 100 mg tablets, and 75 mg tablets), Doryx may not be appropriate for some children.
