Pediatric and Off-Label Indications for Differin

Can Children Use It?

Differin is approved for use in adolescents as young as 12 years old. Talk with your child's healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using Differin in children.

Can You Use Differin for Off-Label Reasons?

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Differin for something other than treating acne. Differin (or other retinoids like Differin) may sometimes be used off-label to treat various skin conditions such as:

  • Actinic keratosis (a kind of precancerous skin lesion)
  • Keratosis pilaris (a common ailment that causes "bumpy skin," often on the back of the arms)
  • Melasma (dark pigmentation of the skin typically related to pregnancy or hormone use)
  • Rosacea
  • Signs of sun damage (such as fine wrinkles or spots)
  • Psoriasis.
