Differin Side Effects

In clinical studies, between 40 and 60 percent of people using Differin developed side effects such as scaling, dryness, redness, and persistent burning. However, most people are able to use this drug without any problems. If you develop any serious side effects while using this medication (such as redness or peeling that doesn't clear up within two or three weeks), tell your doctor right away.

An Introduction to Differin Side Effects

As with any medicine, Differin® (adapalene) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Differin. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)

Common Side Effects of Differin

  • Redness -- up to 48 percent
  • Persistent burning or stinging - up to 42.7 percent

These adverse reactions tend to improve with time.
