Differin Acne Treatment

Differin® (adapalene) is a prescription medicine licensed to treat acne. It comes in the form of a gel, lotion, and a cream, and is available in various strengths. This medicine is applied once daily (just before bedtime) to the affected areas of skin.

When using Differin for treating acne, keep in mind that the skin may look worse temporarily -- this is normal, and the skin's appearance should start to improve within four weeks. Your healthcare provider might recommend that you use it alone or with another acne medication. Because Differin is typically applied at bedtime, your healthcare provider may recommend a different type of acne treatment for use in the morning.
