Your healthcare provider may prescribe clindamycin phosphate lotion to treat certain types of skin infections, including acne. This product is only available in one strength: clindamycin phosphate 1 percent lotion (Cleocin T®, ClindaMax®)

Clindamycin phosphate lotion is a type of antibiotic used to treat bacterial skin infections. It comes in several forms, but the lotion is used to treat skin conditions such as acne. The medication works by interfering with bacteria's ability to make proteins. Without these proteins, bacteria are unable to grow and multiply.

Although many people have no problems with clindamycin phosphate lotion, side effects are possible. Some of the most common ones include:

  • Dryness
  • Redness
