If you have a bacterial infection, your healthcare provider may prescribe
clindamycin HCl 150 mg capsules. Clindamycin HCl (the abbreviation for
clindamycin hydrochloride) is the oral form and works to treat infections by interfering with bacteria's ability to make proteins. Without these proteins, bacteria are unable to grow and multiply.
This medication is also available in other strengths, including:
- Clindamycin HCl 75 mg capsules
- Clindamycin HCl 300 mg capsules
- Clindamycin palmitate HCl 75 mg per 5 mL granules for oral solution.
It is often less expensive to use twice as many clindamycin HCl 150 mg capsules, rather than the 300 mg capsules. For instance, if you take 300 mg per dose, it may be significantly less expensive to take two of the 150-mg capsules, instead of one 300-mg capsule.
