More Details on Benzamycin

What If I Overdose on Benzamycin?

An overdose of this medication may cause extreme skin irritation, but is unlikely to be extremely dangerous. However, it is important to seek medical attention if you believe you have overdosed on Benzamycin or if you have taken this medication by mouth.
(Click Benzamycin Overdose for more information.)

How Should This Medicine Be Stored?

You can store Benzamycin (in a jar) in the refrigerator, for up to three months. After this time, discard any unused portion. Keep the lid tightly closed when not in use.
Benzamycin Pak should be stored at room temperature, away from heat and open flames. Store the medication in its original pouches, and do not mix it until right before use. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children.

What Should I Do If I Forget a Dose of Benzamycin?

If you forget to use Benzamycin one morning or evening, just skip that dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply extra medication to make up for a missed dose; applying more medication does not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may irritate your skin.

Available Strengths

Benzamycin comes in the following strengths and forms:
  • Benzamycin 3%/5% Gel, which is supplied in a jar
  • Benzamycin Pak 3%/5% Gel, which is supplied as individual pouches.

Both Benzamycin products contain 3% erythromycin and 5% benzoyl peroxide.

Can I Buy Generic Benzamycin?

Benzamycin, but not Benzamycin Pak, is available in generic form (see Generic Benzamycin for more information).
