Azelex Medication Information
Available by prescription only, Azelex® (azelaic acid cream) is a medication used to treat mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne. It comes in the form of a skin cream and is licensed for use in adults and children as young as 12 years old.
Typically, Azelex is applied to the affected area twice daily. Possible side effects may include itching, burning, and stinging.
To ensure your safety with Azelex, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other medications you are taking, including nonprescription drugs and other skin products you are using, as well as any allergies you may have, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
