Accutane is approved for use in children as young as 12 years old, although there is some concern that it may cause thinning of the bones (which could lead to osteoporosis) when used in children or teens. Talk with your child's healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using Accutane in children.
Off-Label Accutane Uses
On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Accutane for something other than acne. This is known as an "off-label" use. Accutane is sometimes used off-label as chemotherapy to treat certain types of cancer.
