People who have severe nodular acne may benefit from Accutane® (isotretinoin). This prescription medication is only approved for use when other acne treatments have failed. Although most people tolerate the medication well, side effects are possible. Some of the common side effects seen with this drug include hearing problems, depression, and dry skin. You should not use Accutane if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant. Also, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medical conditions you have or medicines you are taking before starting treatment.
